BArch, DipArch, PG Dip DAER,
Michael joined FCBStudios’ London office in September 2014. Prior to this he worked at Jestico + Whiles in London.
Michael has a diverse portfolio of experience based on a long-standing interest in public and semi-public buildings, including education, heritage and the reuse of historically significant buildings. This is complemented by his interest in working with materials and building technologies.
Since joining FCBStudios, Michael has worked on a number of significant projects for the practice, including the renovation and extensions to the Southbank Centre, for the Hayward Gallery and Queen Elizabeth Hall; and restoration and expansion of the Grade II listed Control Building at Jodrell Bank Observatory. Michael was also part of the project teams for The Charter School in East Dulwich, as well as our long-term masterplanning and project development work for the Imperial NHS Trust Hospital in Paddington. He is currently working on a major new science campus for Dublin Institute of Technology, which will provide new facilities for ten of the university’s schools.
Previously, Michael worked at the Office of Public Works in Dublin - Ireland’s largest multidisciplinary practice that provide, manage and maintain the State’s property portfolio. While there, he managed the development of an early stage reuse project for the historic munitions depot, the Magazine Fort, as well as working on the rebuilding of the teak-framed hothouse at the Botanic Garden, and refurbishment of Dublin Castle Conference Centre.
Through his post-graduate studies at Dublin Institute of Technology, Michael has also developed an expertise in building physics and environmental performance of existing buildings, designing a scheme to transform a struggling 1960s inner-city housing block into modern, low-energy housing that exceeded current standards.
