What makes a great Higher Education Building?

The Education Estates Awards showcase the most interesting projects from across the sector. This year, two FCBStudios projects have been shortlisted as University Project of the Year.
Ulster University Belfast Campus, which moves six faculties from the Jordanstown Campus into new facilities in the Cathedral Quarter of Central Belfast, putting the city at the heart of University life and injecting new energy back into the city. The campus provides state of the art learning facilities, arranged to promote interaction between disciplines.
The Catalyst Building at Staffordshire University is a teaching and learning building, a student hub and a gateway that reaches beyond the campus to connect university and industry. It embodies the whole university, in one future flexible building that will be a major part of the future student experience.
The Education Estates Awards bring together the best new thinking in education, and the shortlist is strong. The winners will be announced in October.
